What's the difference between a .com and .com.au address?

The difference between a .com and a .com.au web address is really to do with the registration and location of the domain name.

A .com address doesn't have restrictions on who can register the address, whereas the .com.au requires a registered business with either an Australian Business Number (ABN) or Business Number (BN).

The .com is widely used around the world for web addresses, whilst a .com.au address is recognised as an Australian website.

There are a wide variety of web addresses which support business, not-for-profit organisations, education and individuals.
