Website Images are usually created from photographs or designs.
If you are using photographs to create your images, make sure the photo's are high quality and of high resolution. This makes working with them much easier.
Depending on your website layout, you may need to resize the photographs to fit. To do this you'll need to use a photo editing program such as Adobe's Photoshop Elements. This program will allow you to edit and export images to the perfect size. There are many photo editing programs out there and costs vary, so look at your requirements and needs and go from there.
Remember that images on your website are not the same as print images - website images can be as low as 72dpi (dots per inch) and are usually created using RGB colour palette to suit computer and laptop monitors.
Images can also be created by using designs - an example of an image using design is a logo - this could be letters and a symbol. These images are usually created in an illustration program, such as Adobe Illustrator, again there are many illustration programs available and you'd need to consider your requirements and needs. It might actually be more cost effective for you to hire a graphic designer to do your logo, banners etc for you.
