Of course if you have a website that contains a small number of pages, then you probably don't need to include a Site Map, however if you have a large website with several sections and categories - it's definitely worth considering.
There's some discussion on how search engines use Site Maps to help rank your website on their search results although there's a lot of other factors involved in this as well.
The most important point to consider though is your customers - can they find the information they want and will a Site Map help them?
