Password Protection

Passwords are often not treated as seriously as they should be.  There are people out there that have automated scripts to try and crack your password and get into your computer, application or emails. Often common words or names are the easiest as they use a dictionary style program to crack your password.

Here are some password tips:-

  1. Make sure your password is not a name i.e. John.
  2. Make sure it's not a common word i.e work, desk, cup etc.
  3. If you include numbers don't put it at the end or beginning i.e. 1hat, dog2 or even dog1cat.
  4. Change your password regularly - at least every 6 months.
  5. Try to use a password that is a mix of alpha-numeric characters i.e. a87tgy4fd.
  6. Try using a random password generator.
  7. Never give your password out!
