Where do I get Web Hosting?

Your web designer can usually recommend their preferred web hosting company. If you choose to go it alone - there's a lot of web hosting companies out there!

Easiest way to find a web hosting company is to do an internet search (google, bing etc), however this will bring up several pages of suggestions.

The only way to tell what will suit you is to check out the packages they offer. Look at how much storage space they offer, are email addresses included, what sort of applications do they allow on their servers, can you subscribe monthly, yearly or even bi-yearly? Also look at their customer service, will they be available during the times you need them to be i.e. if it's an american company and you're business is in australia - will they be open when you are? Check out some of the forums and see if they've had good reviews or bad reviews. If they offer free trials - make sure you're not getting 1 month free and 23 months at big $$$.

There are several free web hosting options, however these may limit the amount or type of files you use. They may also require that you place advertising on your site - which may not be suitable for many businesses.

Some free web hosting companies don't allow you to use your own web address, so you may find that you have www.freewebhosting.com/yourbusiness as your web address, which makes it difficult for your customers to find you.
